GoCardless Email Receipts
Customers expect a receipt in their inbox after a Direct Debit clears. GoCardless does not email customers a branded PDF receipt by default. Receipt Maker attaches a branded PDF and sends it from your mailbox or via managed sending.
Focus here is delivery: who the email comes from, how you connect your mailbox, and how receipts reach the customer reliably.

Connect Microsoft with OAuth, or use SMTP including Gmail with an App Password. Receipts send from an address your customers recognise.

Prefer not to configure SMTP? Pro users can add Managed Email Sending for fully managed delivery.
PDF attached
Every email includes the branded receipt PDF so customers have a file they can save and forward.
Set up GoCardless email receipts
- Connect GoCardless so payment and customer email details are available.
- In Settings, connect email: Microsoft OAuth or SMTP for Google and other providers.
- Send a test receipt to yourself, then send manually or enable Auto Mode on Pro.

Can I send GoCardless receipts from Gmail or Outlook? +
Yes. Use Microsoft OAuth for Outlook or Microsoft 365, or SMTP with an App Password for Gmail and Google Workspace.
What is Managed Email Sending? +
An optional Pro add on at £10 per month that sends receipts without you configuring SMTP or OAuth yourself.
Will emails look like they come from my business? +
When you connect your own mailbox, receipts send from that address. Using your domain with correct SPF and DKIM improves deliverability.
Is the PDF attached to the email? +
Yes. Customers receive an email with the branded PDF receipt attached.
How much does email sending cost? +
Free plan includes limited monthly emails. Pro from £10 per month includes unlimited emails when using your own mailbox; Managed Email is an optional extra.
