Automatic GoCardless Receipts

Automatic GoCardless receipts mean a branded PDF is generated and emailed when GoCardless marks a Direct Debit payment as confirmed. GoCardless does not email customers a branded PDF receipt by default; Receipt Maker Pro Auto Mode fills that gap.

Failed, cancelled or pending payments do not trigger automatic sends. You can still send manually anytime, or snooze individual customers.

Modes

Auto Mode vs Manual Mode

Auto Mode (Pro)

After you enable it, each newly confirmed payment gets a receipt automatically. Payments already confirmed before you turned Auto on are not backfilled.

Manual Mode

Automatic sends stay off. You choose when to send from the Customers page or dashboard.

Turn on automatic receipts

  1. Connect GoCardless and configure your receipt design.
  2. Connect email delivery in Settings.
  3. On the Dashboard, enable Auto Receipts (requires active Pro).
  4. New confirmed payments then generate and email a PDF, usually within minutes.
